Bucket List Challenge

Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage. – Anaïs Nin

What do you sometimes fantasize about experiencing, but you still haven't done it yet?

Ever thought about going on a cruise?

Learning to dance?

Taking up a musical instrument?

Going on a Vipassana meditation retreat?

Exploring art museums in Paris?

Becoming fluent in a new language?

Doing an ayahuasca ceremony in the Amazon?

If you were living through your personal version of Eat, Pray, Love, what would you include?

You may not even know for sure what you want. Whether you have clarity or not, fresh possibilities always await you.

Await is the keyword here. Life is waiting on you... and waiting... and waiting...

How much longer will you make these experiences wait?

Till you feel certain?

Till you have more money?

Till you have more time?

Till you finish your latest project?

Till you move out of your parents' house?

Till the kids are grown?

Till you reach your 60s?

Till you get out of debt?

Till you feel you've earned it?

For many people (perhaps most), the answer to the waiting game is: too long. Many only realize this on their deathbeds.

Waiting is the default answer for many people. Each day ticks by, and so do all the rich possibilities when you don't take action to seize them.

Let me help you cut through the confusion here and get to the heart of what actually matters.

Reclaiming Your Power

There's only one moment in which you have real power. You know this. It's the NOW.

It's only in the present moment that you have the power to invite, receive, and enjoy new experiences. Yes, there are sequences of actions to be taken to fully realize more complex dreams, but they must all be seeded in the present.

If there are no seeds of new experiences planted in your present reality, the default outcome is that they'll never happen. If they only exist in the future and not in the NOW, they're just fantasies. Do you want to leave them all as fantasies that will never be, or do you want to start drawing some of these experiences into your life and making them real?

A key mindset shift is that the seeds of future experiences can only be planted in the NOW – in this moment. You exist in such a moment right now. I'm going to invite you to start planting some of those seeds before you finish reading this page. In fact, the process has already begun.

The opposite is true as well. The intention to plant seeds in the future is actually a powerless intention. It's only when you switch to the intention of planting seeds in this very moment that your experiential reality will begin to shift in a meaningful way. You can only make changes NOW.

To fork your life onto a different timeline where you get to experience much more richness, you need to inject a different kind of decision into your present. It's the decision that says, "Yes, I'm really going to do this. It's happening. For real. Right NOW."

Then you take some immediate actions to advance in that new direction. The more powerful the actions, the better. From decision into action is one continuous flow. It doesn't feel like today's NOW and then tomorrow's NOW. It's all the same NOW. It may even feel like going down a water slide. Once you enter the top of the slide, emerging from the bottom is inevitable, and the whole experience becomes a singular memory.

Here's an interesting way to think of these forking decisions: Once you're ready to invite something new into your life, you must absolutely annihilate the old pathway where you don't make it happen.

Don't just think about how to advance towards the new goal. Reframe the old reality as a compulsive addiction that's surely going to suck you back in if you don't majorly distance yourself from it. Recognize that your old path still emits a strong gravitational pull. If you half-ass the effort to shift, you'll only veer away from your old reality for a short time, and then it will pull you back into your old cycles of complacency. The dream will fade.

Ever had that happen before? Have you ever taken a few nibbles in the direction of an interesting possibility, and then watched it fizzle and die?

Most likely your dream started with curiosity or wonder. That's a great vibe to begin with, but it's usually not enough to get you across the finish line. To progress further you'll need to shift from curiosity to other vibes. I might describe the ideal combo as enthusiasm plus commitment with a twist of surrender.

The challenge here isn't just about making different decisions and taking new actions. It's a vibrational and emotional journey as well. You'll likely need to do some inner work too because you'll almost certainly run into limiting thoughts, misaligned emotions, and irrational objections that tempt you to quit.

Sometimes you may not even feel yourself quitting. If you don't do the necessary inner work, you'll probably just fade out. Your original timeline will suck you right back in.

Your Invitation

Here's your invitation...

Let's make a huge upgrade to this area of life together as a team – you, me, and dozens of other people from this community.

Let's pick some items from our personal bucket lists, and let's actually do them. Pull them out of dream space, bring them down to earth, and make them really happen.

Get the cruise booked. Sign up for the dance lessons. Start your podcast.

This is one of those major forking decisions for you. If you accept this challenge and enroll, you're taking a committed action to shift your life down a very different path. You're sending a powerful signal to your reality and to yourself that the shift is really happening, and it's happening NOW.

The Personally Meaningful Standard

It's tempting to pursue new experiences in a haphazard or random way. If you do that too much, you may end up pursuing an amplified version of Shiny Object Syndrome. You'll rack up a variety of new experiences this way, but in the end you may still feel dissatisfied by the results and impact. This may make you feel hesitant to maintain such an engaged lifestyle, wondering if it's even worth it.

As you get older, you may feel some pressure to get something going lifestyle-wise – to stretch yourself more and to ensure you don't pile up regrets from inaction. Social media can amplify this feeling of pressure. Some pressure can be healthy since it invites us into the world of action. But it's also wise to be cautious in making such decisions. You can expend a lot of energy and resources on experiences that just don't resonate with you.

On my birthday in 2014, I went skydiving for the first time. After a few hours of training and signing an ungodly liability waiver, Rachelle and I got on the small plane. It took 20 minutes to fly up to the jump altitude, two miles above the ground. I remember the stunning views over Lake Mead and Hoover Dam combined with the loud rush of cool air on the way down. But I can't say it did much for me other than being something to check off my list. It was cool but not life-changingly powerful. I never felt inspired to do it again. Was it scary? Not nearly as scary as doing ayahuasca the first time.

Skydiving was an inherited challenge. It was a pre-packed idea I picked up from the world. That isn't bad per se. I still appreciate the memory of having done it. It only took four hours and $200. I satisfied my curiosity, so I no longer have to wonder about it. But I can't say it was transformational. It was A bucket list item, but I wouldn't necessarily say it was MY bucket list item.

In doing this community Bucket List Challenge with you, I invite you to reach beyond inherited challenges. It's okay to include some of those if you want, but let's also help you identify some experiences that resonate in a deeper way. Some of those may even scare you a bit, or you may feel there are too many obstacles in the way. But if you can get yourself to do them, they'll unlock new aspects of life that are very rich and empowering for you.

What do you think might surface if you join us for this challenge? I can't answer that for you, and I don't want to flood your mind with too many inherited ideas. But I'd love for you to see what comes up when you immerse yourself in this group energy together. I can't predict how it will affect you, but I do have a deep trust in these kinds of collective energy-circulating experiences. Something powerful always happens when we team up and pool our intentionality in this way.

I think a pattern you'll see – if you haven't already – is that to really unearth the richest, most personally meaningful experiences, you'll need to cultivate a deeper sense of trust in life. What else would you reach for if you trusted life more? That's what we really want to bring to the surface here.

You may also discover that the very best bucket list experiences will enrich, expand, and deepen your trust in life, in reality, in people, and in yourself. The less satisfying experiences won't have that kind of impact.

The Inevitability Standard

Bucket list items can take a variable, sometimes unpredictable, amount of time to accomplish. Taking this into account, here's the standard we'll use for working together.

During each round of four Zoom calls (three rounds total), we'll aim to get your bucket list items to reach the standard of inevitability.

This means that either you've already accomplished your chosen goals by the end of a round, or you've reached the point where it's obvious that you're going to complete them. Having those experience is a done deal.

You've booked the flights. The reservations are made. You've enrolled in the lessons and established a daily rhythm for doing them. You've overcome inertia, and now you're sailing smoothly towards your goal. Even if your ultimate goal needs more time to fully come through, you know you'll get there just by flowing with the momentum you've built. You can trust that you'll get there. The realization of the goal has become ever-present in the NOW.

Do you remember what it feels like once you've booked your travel and lodging for a new trip? The trip itself may still be months away, but you've made it inevitable by making the appropriate commitments. You feel differently when you reach that point, don't you? Now the trip isn't just a possibility. It's really happening. You may still need to take other actions, such as packing, but you can trust yourself to do the remaining steps with certainty and glide across the finish line.

Through each round of the Bucket List Challenge, you'll aim to reach the inevitability standard for at least one bucket list item. Transform the possibility into a done deal, even if it will take longer than one round of Zoom calls to fully experience it.

This isn't a competition. It's a cooperative team effort. Let's support and encourage each other through this process. Realize that doing this together as a group will make our experiences way more fun and rewarding. By weaving a sense of community and contribution into our individual efforts, we can elevate the experience for all involved.

The Challenge Format

Here's the specific format of the Bucket List Challenge.

We'll do three rounds total over a period of several months. That's three separate chances to select and advance one or more items from your bucket list.

In each round I'll host four Zoom calls spread across a 15-day window. That's 12 calls total for the entire series.

Each call is 90 minutes and starts at 11:11 AM Pacific Time (11:11 AM - 12:41 PM) on the dates below:

Zoom Calls - Round 1 - Recordings Now Available

  • Call 1 - Tue Sep 10, 2024
  • Call 2 - Thu Sep 12, 2024
  • Call 3 - Tue Sep 17, 2024
  • Call 4 - Tue Sep 24, 2024

Zoom Calls - Round 2

  • Call 1 - Tue Nov 19, 2024
  • Call 2 - Thu Nov 21, 2024
  • Call 3 - Tue Nov 26, 2024
  • Call 4 - Tue Dec 3, 2024

Zoom Calls - Round 3

  • Call 1 - Tue Feb 18, 2025
  • Call 2 - Thu Feb 20, 2025
  • Call 3 - Tue Feb 25, 2025
  • Call 4 - Tue Mar 4, 2025

For each round it works like this: The first call is on a Tuesday, the second call two days later, the third call five days after that, and the fourth call seven days after the third. This spacing is deliberate. Go ahead and add the dates to your calendar, so you can see how it looks.

On the first two calls for each round, you'll be guided through a process to choose which bucket list items you want to advance. So within two days after we start, you'll already have your goals for that round. Then you'll be invited to do the necessary research, learning, and so on to advance the goal. The calls act as milestones for you to reach certain points as you advance towards inevitability. We'll encourage everyone to do their best to cross the inevitability line by the fourth call in each round.

Imagine hopping on the first call not even knowing what you're going to pick, and two weeks later you've already advanced a goal to the point of inevitability. Do you want to hop on board and move with us at this pacing?

Some people may even want to team up to do some bucket list items together. That's not essential, but it's surely an option for people who set similar goals, like if several people want to go on a cruise. Wouldn't that make it even more fun?

Rachelle and I are going to do this with you too, so we'll be picking our own bucket list items to work on during each round. What will we pick? We don't know yet because we want to do this in sync with you. Join the challenge and find out!

There are lots of options for how you use each round. Maybe you start with some easily accessible ideas and build up to bigger dreams by the third round. Maybe you use a thematic division such as enrolling in Spanish lessons for Round 1, booking a trip to Machu Picchu for Round 2, and writing a screenplay for Round 3. Perhaps you want to stick with the same theme for all three rounds, such as tackling three different home improvement projects. Or you may enjoy taking it one round at a time to feel out what inspires you as you go.

There's a strong chance that by doing this challenge, you'll surface some hidden dreams that you never seriously considered. You may be surprised by what you actually pick, especially after you sweep aside the socially inherited items and gaze deeper into the possibility space.

Why Three Rounds?

The Bucket List Challenge is for people who want to elevate their life to a new experiential level and keep it elevated. This isn't just about having some awesome one-time experiences. It's really intended for people who desire a permanent yet sustainable lifestyle change.

We'll cover how to choose a bucket list goal that's right for you, how to commit yourself, how to drive towards inevitability, how to keep going from one stretchy experience to the next, how to deal with potential resistance or social drag, how to summon the courage to really go for it, and more.

I want to help you integrate and habitualize the process of selecting and advancing your own bucket list items. Make this way of living your new normal. Fully integrate a new flow of experiential abundance into your life.

This is why we have three separate rounds spread over a period of months. It gives you time to powerfully shift into a new way of relating to life.

As you embark on this journey with us, you'll see that you always have plenty of accessible excuses for not capturing these elevated experiences. Your reasons for inaction may seem solid and objective, often presenting themselves as some kind of lack or deficiency – too little time, not enough money, other priorities blocking the way, etc. But the truth is that these apparent blocks are way more subjective and flexible. Many people who could easily justify inaction with the same excuses you routinely use simply refuse to limit themselves like that.

Such people use their power differently. Instead of flowing their power into reasons not to act, they see through the illusion of objective blocks and recognize that there's a conscious choice to be made. They regard each apparent obstacle as simply being part of the invitation to step up and grow. There are no solid barriers, just growth experiences to accept. Many problems don't even need to be solved on an objective level – they can be skirted instead because they were always imaginary.

By choosing to have amazing experiences, you may also discover that your powerful decisions attract whatever you need. The money shows up. The time opens up. You stumble upon a surprising shortcut. Life was just waiting for you to step up and claim your potential.

When you engage with stretchy bucket list experiences, you don't just acquire cherished memories. You also grow stronger in your ability to choose. You become the kind of person who can have such experiences regularly and with less resistance.

Reality bends to service your commitments. Of course it also bends to multiply and concretize your excuses if that's where you flow your energy.

Instead of making your excuses feel solid and your dreams feel wispy, I invite you to do the opposite. Turn your excuses wispy, and make your dreams solid and real. That is a choice that you're free to make.

Now imagine doing this with dozens of other people who are also committed to making their dreams become real while their tired old excuses fade into nothingness. That takes it to an even more potent level.

Flow of the Calls

Here’s the general focus of each call in a given round:

Call 1 - Identifying and filtering for investment-worthy experiences
Call 2 - Probing promising experiential investments
Call 3 - Committing and advancing to inevitability
Call 4 - Integrating a stronger flow of engaging investments into your life

We’ll also have a different focus for each of the three rounds:

Round 1 focuses on the walkthrough and processes, so it’s heavy on instruction and guidance to get you into the flow of choosing, advancing, and integrating bucket list items.

Round 2 will emphasize more breadth, variety, and divergence in considering options, especially in terms of having experiences you've never had before.

Round 3 will emphasize more depth with stretchy and ambitious choices. Go big!

Live Lessons and Homework

On each call of this challenge, I'll guide you through structured processes to identify, commit to, and advance an item from your bucket list towards its inevitable realization. You may also choose to advance multiple items in a single round if you're feeling ambitious.

In combination with the structured, step-by-step aspects, we'll also work on the vibrational and emotional side. Stepping into the unknown and inviting new experiences can feel daunting at times, so let's surface and deal with those feelings too. There's some useful wisdom to be extracted from such feelings.

Every call will be interactive too, so we'll invite people to share their ideas, decisions, and progress. We'll learn from each other as we go.

Not feeling social? That's fine. You can sit back and watch if you prefer. But I'll tell you that if you share some of your experiences with others, even if it just via the Zoom text chat, it will likely contribute to the advancement of your own bucket list items.

After each call I'll give you some homework too. Nothing fluffy – the homework is to directly advance your own bucket list items in specific ways. We'll break it down step-by-step, so you'll know what to have ready for the next call. We'll need to move you through some decisions, so you can zero in on which new experiences you want to focus on.

If you keep up with the homework, you'll keep pace with the group. Having deadlines benefits you here since it helps you move beyond hesitation and indecision. This is a good way to leverage some positive social pressure to counteract old excuses for inaction. Otherwise you'll be watching your peers advance their dreams while you fall by the wayside. At the same time, we want to get you focusing on what really matters to you, so your choices are personally meaningful and not just random or inherited.

You still remain free to choose your own pacing. The live calls will be infused with lively "let's do this NOW" energy, but if you want to go slower by choice, you have that option. Use the call recordings to flow through the process at whatever pacing works for you. Just embed into your mindset that you're still linking with the group energy as you go.

Price

The price for the whole Bucket List Challenge is $333 U.S. Dollars. That's all-inclusive for all three challenge rounds together.

It's okay if you join after the live calls have begun, but it's the same price no matter when you join, so you might as well join as early as possible. I advise you to attend as many calls live as you can.

There are no refunds once you join. If we offered a money-back guarantee, it would attract less committed people, and that's the opposite of what we want here. This is for the doers, not the dabblers.

Why $333? Honestly it just feels intuitively right to me. I like the symmetry of three 3s to represent the three rounds. It's high enough to ensure that we'll have a committed group of people who will follow through and take action together, so it ought to filter out the non-serious dabbler types. It's also low enough to be easily accessible to most active members of this community.

We could charge more, but I'd rather see you invest more of your funds in the experiences and adventures you select throughout the challenge. I'd like to see a nice big group inside since that means more energy and more diversity of ideas and solutions to cross-pollinate. I just want to make sure we have a committed group that genuinely cares about advancing in this direction together.

After you sign up, you'll be automatically logged into the Bucket List Challenge web portal with instructions on how to proceed. There you'll find the link to register for the Zoom calls as well as the recordings for any live calls that have already been posted. Your login info will be emailed to you as well. It's pretty easy and self-explanatory once you're in.

Conscious Growth Club members get automatic access to the Bucket List Challenge for no extra fee since it's included in their annual membership. So we're going to have a sizable group already just from CGC members. Everyone else who joins is adding even more to the collective energy.

Recordings Included

You'll get the recordings of all 12 calls as well. We'll post them to the Bucket List Challenge web portal within a few hours after each live call. This includes video and audio versions of each Zoom call, plus the call's text chat logs.

If you need to skip one or more calls and use the recordings instead, that's fine. You don't have to attend live, but live is always better than recorded because then you'll sync up with the group energy. And other members will able to support you in advancing your bucket list experiences too.

Don't pile up regret as you age, wondering what might have been. When it's your turn to finally kick the bucket, know that you really squeezed the juice out of life and enjoyed a rich abundance of life's precious gifts. Capture those fantastic new experiences that are waiting for you to claim them.

I'm really looking forward to seeing you embark on some delightful adventures you might otherwise never have experienced.

Join us! Your future self will be so glad you took action NOW. Step into the reality where your dreams are real and solid. You can actually do this.

Which set of memories do you want?

Let's do this together!
