How About Doing a New 30-Day Deep Dive Together?

While flying back from a recent trip, I got the idea of doing something I’ve never done before: leading people through a 30-day deep dive together via daily live video calls.

So we’ll pick some aspect of personal growth and then delve into it together for a month. Each day I’ll share some insights, lessons, and tips with you about that topic on a live video call. The calls will also be recorded for anyone who can’t attend live.

We can easily do this because we already have the whole tech stack in place thanks to setting it up for Conscious Growth Club last year. It’s the same tech that we use for our weekly CGC coaching calls. In fact, I shared this idea in CGC last week, and the members have been helping me expand and refine it. It’s shaping up really well so far.

I’m thinking along the lines of doing a deep dive exploration together as opposed to a typical 30-day challenge. A challenge is like getting up at 5am or doing yoga every day for a month. A deep dive is like delving into upgrading your daily productivity, achieving a sustainable creative flow, figuring out your life purpose, or exploring subjective reality. You can fail a challenge, but you can’t really fail a deep dive because you can follow along at whatever pacing works for you.

While challenges have their place, in this case I feel drawn to co-create an experience with a nurturing, supportive, encouraging, and sometimes playful vibe, not something that might drift towards the competitive. Maybe it’s because I saw the Mr. Rogers movie Won’t You Be My Neighbor? this week. I want everyone who participates to feel they’ve succeeded and that they’re perfect just as they are. 🙂

Suppose we pick a topic like upgrading your productivity, getting into your creative flow, exploring subjective reality, or discovering your life purpose. We divide the major topic into 30 subtopics and cover one subtopic each day for 30 days in a row. Imagine attending daily live video calls with me at the same time every day for 30 days in a row. I’m thinking about 30 minutes for each call, so it will be very reasonable length-wise.

I think some readers will truly love having 30 days of live calls, especially if the topic already aligns (perhaps synchronistically) with some area they’d like to explore or improve.

But what if that feels like too much for you? Or what if you can’t make the live calls? No problem. We’ll record every call and give each participant access to the recordings too, which can be done within a few hours after each call. So even if you can’t attend live, you can easily watch or listen to the recordings shortly thereafter. We can make these available as audio too for those who prefer audio.

This means you can do the deep dive with the group live, or you can watch or listen to the recordings a bit later, or you can just enjoy the recordings on your own at whatever pacing you like. Or mix and match to fit your schedule. If you play the recordings at 2x speed, it’s only 15 minutes per day.

At the end of the series, I’ll give all participants access to the recordings (video and audio), so you’ll get a copy of the whole collection to keep. If we do 30 minutes a day, that means 15 hours of material total, which is pretty close to the amount of content I’d normally share in a 3-day workshop. So you could think of this like doing an online workshop together but conveniently divided into bite-sized pieces over a 30-day period.

What do you think of this idea so far? Are you thinking you’d like to join us? 🙂

We still need to select the topic and the daily call time. I’ll likely work that out by surveying my newsletter subscribers to see what rises to the top. If you want to be kept in the loop on this, make sure you’re subscribed to the list too.

If this deep dive is popular enough – and I expect it will be – we could even run these a few times each year, exploring a different topic each time.

I intend to run this first deep dive August 1-30. That gives us about four more weeks to figure out the details before we begin. I’ll work this out with members of CGC and with people on my newsletter list in the weeks ahead. In the meantime if you’d like to share some early feedback on this idea or suggest any variations we might consider, I invite you to use my contact form to let me know.

Update: Here’s the final write-up on the recent 30-day delegation challenge, which covers Days 14-30. I opted to share this post first in order to give you plenty of advance notice about the upcoming group deep dive and to invite your feedback a little sooner.

Another Update: Our 30-day deep dive for August will be on the topic of abundance, and the live daily calls will be at 11:11am Pacific time for all 30 days.

Yet Another Update: Here are the details about the abundance deep dive. Sign up by July 31st at midnight Pacific time if you want to join us. You can see the current signup numbers at the top of that page too.
