Hi everyone. I thought that it would be wonderful if all of you could tell me the names of any songs or tracks that inspire you. I want tracks that kind of encourage you and rise your spirits in the time of need...I've heard my list so many times, that i've got accustomed to the songs, and they dont bring the same feeling in me, that they used to. The songs needn't only be inspirational - any thing to relax your mind after a long day's work is also fine! Waiting for your replies eagerly. Thanks, Aditya. |

1. Ultimate Darkness album by DarkSeed. You probably wouldn't like it because it is metal ("hard" music), but some parts of the lyrics are just incredible. I love it. Check this small excerpt out: Quote:

Also, Christian Calcatelli is the greatest solo piano player I know. That would be the relaxing music. I've mentioned him in my previoust post. And here is a short list of some metal songs that motivate me (and have a positive message in their lyrics): - A Touch Of Blessing by Evergrey (the whole album is nice though) - Not Afraid to Die by Pain - Don't Count Me Out by Pain - Samarithan by Candlemass - Reroute To Remain by In Flames (beware - harsh vocals - Symbols Of My Universe by Abyssaria (ditto) - We Will Rise by Arch Enemy (again, harsh lyrics) - The Poison Well by Dark Tranquillity (harsh lyrics) | ||

The standard motivational songs notwithstanding, my current favorite is "Break Free" by Shirley Levi. The whole album, but take a look at the lyrics for the title song -- "Hey you with your dreams, life is not what it seems, wake up! Stand up for what you believe! Your dreams are your wings, let them carry you, not bury you...beauty's trapped in your head, bring it out, let it shout!" - BREAK FREE |

If anyone knows something similar to Weekend Players, let me know! Also, I think Dario G is "good mood music". |

So many wonderful tunes, it's hard to pick a few. Ash -- Let It Flow Doves -- Words Doves -- Catch The Sun elbow -- Ribcage elbow -- Grace Under Pressure Five Iron Frenzy -- Cannonball I often find house music puts me in a great mood - it has such a positive vibe to it that it's hard not to be uplifted. |

I pretty much just listen to Trance music these days. If you've never heard any trance, then Paul Oakenfold's "Tranceport" is a good place to start. If you really don't like that album, then you can pretty much write off the entire genre. For me, though, trance is where it's at. I love the stuff. |

Anarchy by KMDFM is my favorite. Something about that song always inspires me to action. I do have to agree with the crowd that Sigur Ros is very worth listening to. If you like Sigur Ros, then give Royksopp a go. There a bit softer, but good along the same lines. |

I see my world through Dylan's music and I would never want it any other way. Every situation I see, I can relate to some Dylanesque quote. When I observe the argumentation but is not a participant in it, I am "not talkin', just walkin'". When a sudden feeling of bliss comes to me I am "dancing beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free" and we all "come with the dust, and are gone with the wind" (originally Woody Guthrie). And oh, don't forget. "You know what they say about being nice to right people on the way up. Sooner or later, you gonna meet them coming dooooown..." |

I find Alanis Morissette very heartwarming and motivating, especially when she sings "unplugged" - she has such a wonderful voice and she puts so much feeling into her songs! At the moment my favorite is "That I would be good". For lying on my bed and relaxing I like Tracy Chapman. When I really need to pick myself up listening to music is sometimes not enough - but singing along to a CD and dancing trough the room never fail! Songs like Splish Splash (Bobby Darin) or the Banana Boat Song and similar "swingy" oldies may not be what you'd call inspirational, but they can grip the body and make it wriggle and swing. You can use them to simply shake off gloom and tiredness! Great sing-along music for me besides such oldies is film music like Walt Disney's Jungle Book and musicals like Hair or Chicago. I also find my housefold chores more enjoyable when I turn them into a musical performance - just make sure the curtains are drawn and the windows closed |
